Fuel efficiency
Fuel efficiency is important to reduce both CO2 emissions and the cost of driving. The difference between each category means a reduction or increase in fuel consumption of 3-4%.Wet grip/Breaking performance
Wet grip is a critical safety feature. Tyres are rated A - E; A being the shortest braking distances in the wet. The difference in category can mean an extra car length (3-6 meters) on the stopping distance.Noise emission/Exterior noise
There are three ratings for noise: A, B and C.A produces the least external noise levels, whilst C produces the highest.
Hakkapeliitta R5 is a non-studded winter tire for passenger vehicles designed to provide uncompromising grip and advanced driving characteristics for every winter day. - Absolute grip in winter conditions and balanced handling. Hakkapeliitta R5 handles all Nordic winter conditions and behaves predictably on bare, wet, icy, and snowy roads. The new Double Block Grip pattern ensures excellent grip and handling, while the unique Arctic Grip crystals provide top performance on ice. Microscopic crystals act as built-in studs. As the tire wears, new crystals appear, increasing the much-needed grip. - Maximum driving comfort and quiet ride. Tire noise can significantly affect driving comfort. Lower noise levels make the journey more comfortable and less exhausting for the driver. Hakkapeliitta R5 ensures a constant and pleasant noise level. Pleasantly low noise levels have been achieved by eliminating the most disturbing noise peaks that the human ear can distinguish. The new Silent Touch pattern guarantees a comfortable and quiet ride thanks to the new distribution of rubber blocks. - Environmentally friendly mobility with fuel savings. Starting with the material selection, the new Hakkapeliitta R5 tire has been developed to leave a smaller carbon footprint. The new Green Trace rubber compound provides excellent grip in winter conditions, longer mileage durability, and low rolling resistance. A high amount of natural rubber keeps the rubber compound flexible in all conditions. Low rolling resistance reduces fuel consumption and harmful emissions. Over a third of the compound consists of renewable and recycled materials.
